World Book Day 2023
2 Mar
Today was World Book Day and here at Colmers Farm we celebrated in some fantastic ways! Every year group took part in the 'Great Colmers Farm Book Swap' and children who brought in a book got to chose a 'new' preloved book to take home.
At the start and the end of the day, we had parents in our lower hall reading with their children.
Reception had a great afternoon when Year 5 came down and read stories to them. Both sets of children enjoyed this. Years 1,2 and 3 took part in an online draw along assembly where they had a go at drawing their very own 'Dave the Pigeon'. Year 3 also enjoyed some jelly after reading the story 'When Jelly had a Wobble'. Year 4 designed some fantastic book front covers. Year 5 created some beautiful posters based on the book 'All are welcome' to show that we are a No Outsiders school and everyone is welcome here. Year 6 did some fantastic art and written work looking at fears after reading the book 'Me and My Fear'.
Every year group got to spend some time reading in the library and at the end of the day had the opportunity to hear a different class teacher or TA reading them a story. Everyone had a wonderful day celebrating some brilliant books and it was great to see so many children and staff dressed up as their favourite book character or wearing clothes that represented who they are. It was wonderful to see how many different hobbies we all have.
